After…what…three years of this blogging thing, I’m still learning how to use some of the more remote parts of the dashboard.
Most of you who have been with us before know that in the past, you’ve had to approve every comment that shows up in one of your posts. Not any more! Hit the button that says “Settings” near the bottom of the left side of your dashboard. Then hit “Discussion.” At that point, pick your settings. Definitely click the three boxes at the top since discussion is a class requirement. For this class, commentators must fill out name and e-mail is also a good choice. I also have myself notified via e-mail when anyone posts a comment, but other than that I have the whole thing empty. I don’t want people to have to wait for me to moderate a comment for their comments to show up.
Note: While there’s this horrible thing called comment spam that might show up on your posts, WordPress is generally pretty good at preventing that from happening.

I changed my mind about the whole “checking in” below thing here when I realized that my post was going straight up whenever someone has their comment moderation turned off. So please, if you’re reading this, just make sure you have comment moderation turned off so that can have a good bloggy conversation when we get to Chicago.
